Transference resistance
About this training
Many psychotherapists experience an impasse in their work with patients who are passive, helpless, speak in generalities, intellectualize, criticize, or withdraw. The problem also arises when the patient avoids emotional closeness or denies their own feelings.
A common mistake is to work solely at the level of defence mechanisms, while the actual blockage lies deeper, at the level of core resistance.
The patient does not resist us, but the relationship we offer them.
This resistance has its source in childhood, in family systems where the child's key needs were denied: closeness, boundaries, dependence, aggression, honesty, and support.
The clinical material shows how to understand and recognize resistance as:
- an unconscious loyalty to a distorted family system
- a protection against painful feelings and memories
- a consequence of the formation of the false self
You will learn why the therapeutic relationship, based on honesty, closeness, boundaries, and support, triggers resistance, and how to distinguish transference from resistance to closeness.
It organizes the layers of resistance:
- core resistance
- a resistance-based stance
- behaviours (defences)
- symptoms and problems
It also discusses its three main systems:
- isolation of affect
- repression
- fragility
and their impact on the therapy process.
What will you learn?
- How do you recognize when the transfer resistance occurs and how to work with it?
- How to understand in-depth translational resistance?
- What are our patterns of denial?
What will you receive?
- 01An extensive training video on the subject of transference resistance
- 02The presentation used in the training video with the possibility of downloading and viewing
