How does trauma affect the attachment experience
Coffee with ISTDP Masters
What will you learn?
The webinar is devoted to a deep understanding of trauma, its denial, and its consequences in therapeutic work and interpersonal relationships. It allows participants to explore key aspects of working with patients. The webinar special guest, Tobias Nordqvist, presents his own perspective, defining trauma as premature exposure to death, both in the physical and psychological sense, associated with the loss of the true “self.” He focuses on the importance of the patient taking responsibility for their current life, which is crucial for working through trauma, and explains how extreme parenting attitudes, such as excessive control and neglect, lead to the psychological death of the child, preventing them from developing their own potential. It also discusses the role of the therapist in exposing the patient’s denials without taking responsibility for them.
